Preparations
for the inaugural Sir Edward German Music Festival are now well underway. The
programme has been finalised and tickets will go on sale in the new year. Listed
below are some of the highlights of the week's
celebrations.
Saturday
22nd April Opening Gala Concert:
Choros Amici (Sainsbury's BBC Choir of the Year 2000) will perform the winning
entry of the Edward German Music Composing Competition.
Sunday
23rd & Monday 24th:
Performance of Merrie England. John Gough and group will perform a song and piano
recital of German works.
Tuesday
25th: The
National Festival Orchestra conducted by Dr David Russell Hulme (the world expert
and commentator on Edward German).
Wednesday
26th: Julian
Lloyd Webber accompanied by John Lenehan.
Thursday
27th: The
Band of the Welsh Guards perform a programme of Sir Edward German's
music.
Friday
28th: The
Final Celebration Concert by the Hallé conducted by John Wilson.
